Dear Sheriff,

While serving as County Sheriff, I researched several community crime prevention programs. Not finding a program that fit both large ranches/landowners and small land/livestock owners in rural areas, I developed and trademarked the Ranch Watch Program®.

Ranch Watch is now being used in counties across Colorado. The program is very effective in deterring crime. The "No Trespass" signs have been a great success. The High Intensity Reflective Highway/County Road sign is designed to go at the beginning of a county road, usually installed on the existing county road number sign or citizens can purchase the sign for their driveway.

County residents are very receptive to the program. Residents know that you are making a difference and care about the rural residents of the county. Education about the program comes from you and your department.

The Ranch Watch Identification Program^TM is an easy and simple method of marking equipment and tack without having to register items with your department, including the livestock I.D. forms.

The Ranch Watch extra patrol request forms, at the request of a resident can be filled out by your personnel or can be put onto your web site, filled out by the resident. The Ranch Watch Emergency G.P.S. Form is kept on file by both resident and Sheriff's Office in case of medical, fire or other emergency requiring G.P.S. for "Airlife" or other emergency equipment.

The Ranch Watch Program includes "Ranch Watch Law Enforcement Officer" of the year award and "Ranch Watch Citizen" of the year award to those making a difference for their county or state.

Ranch Watch also conducts a "Livestock Investigations" certification class for law enforcement. Some Sheriff's may prefer to let an organization or group do the program on behalf of the Sheriff with his/her blessing. Make a lasting difference, become a "Ranch Watch" County!
